All About Snopes.com

To be honest, I've never heard of Snopes.com until now. In my research about the website it says that it attempts to give accurate information about rumors and urban legends on a variety of topics. As I furthered studied the site, I saw just how biased it really can be.

One article that got my attention was about one of my favorite HGTV's home design show "Fixer Upper" with Chip and Joanna Gaines. They were accused of being against same- sex marriage based on the church they attend. The pastor of the church, Antioch Community Church, did a sermon expressing the belief that marriage is between one man and one woman.one man and one women about a year ago and now the Gaines have been brought into this. Jimmy Seibert, who is the pastor of the church takes a stance against gay marriages but help those who want to become straight again find their way.

HGTV responded with, the show does not discriminate against members of the LGBT community and include people from all walks of life. Chip Gaines also responded with, regardless if they decided to respond to this craziness, please have respect.

Another article that I thought was interesting was called Chip Shot. Supposedly, Wyoming schools are implanting students with MINI RFID. Of course it was false. The story came from The National Report. The National Report is a news and political satire website that mix the truth with fiction.

This website will not be a source for me to use unless I'm doing an assignment on false information or I'm looking for entertainment on the the weirdest story ever..

Where is my Professor

Kennesaw State University  has reached record number of 35,000+ of enrolled students but doesn't have the instructors to teach them. Some communication majors received this notice only a couple of weeks before classes began. Some general and prerequisite courses were not offered online as a backup for not having an on campus instructor. Because of this inconvenience, students are being delayed from graduating on time.  This has been an issue for KSU for the past few years. Some instructors are being overworked to try to make up for the needed instructors but it still isn't enough leaving six courses without instructors. There is no anticipation of new professors coming for the next year. If this is an ongoing problem that has happened for a few years, something should have been done by now.

KSU have more students than the campus can hold, let alone teach. Yet they continue to accept students knowing  some courses they need may not be covered.Online classes can add up to 300+ per class. There is money being wasted from the meal plan and the over charges for parking that you may not get to use either. So where does the money go? The school is short staffed but continue to take the money of students who may not get what they are paying for and that's an instructor to teach them what they need to know for this new life they are about to begin. These are only a few issues that I have read about from The Sentinel. Kennesaw have some great teachers who go out their way to help their students.  Maybe professors some don't mind the extra work. KSU can do a lot better for their students and instructors.

The Problem for Women Is Not Winning. It's Deciding to Run.

This article is about not enough women running for political office. For so long women have felt as if they were not qualified enough to take on a political job. Most women just didn't have the confidence. Society praise men for ambition and not women. When it come to women, they are very hesitant about promoting themselves.

Upshot did an article with Senator Kirsten Gillibrand of New York and her take of women in political office. She feel that women are just as likely as men to run for office and get elected, but women  just don't run. The number of women serving in office slowed downed back in the 90's. The so-called ambition gap of women are less likely to be encouraged by parent, teachers, or party leaders to run. When women do run, they often start out at lower-level positions than the first-time male candidates. A study done by Jennifer L. Lawless of American University says, "Women are going to assume there's this bias and you get undercut and encounter sexism every time you open your mouth, and the reality is that's just not true". She sees Hilary Clinton as a perfect example and role model for the women in politics.

Gabriela Schneider disagreed with the article from Upshot. She feel it's not an "ambition gap" that holds women back from our rightful place in elected office, but a systemic flaw in our politics that prioritizes fund-raising prowess over ability, experience and character. Schneider see this as an
"old boys' club" and women don't stand a chance. Women haven't even had the right to vote for a century, yet while men have been campaigning for more than two centuries. Even though she doesn't feel as if Hillary Clinton should strand as the latest best example of a female candidate pursuing office, but instead mark the beginning of a sea change in American politics.

Literature and I

For many years my relationship with literature has been more on a personal level. There was no known author and never been published but have hopes that one day I could publish it. It's my very own literature. Reading and writing about life and everyday struggles, as I saw it was hobby of mine since I was a young teen. It's been 17 years since high school and to be honest, I really don't remember any assignments that we had to do. Since I've started going back to school, reading different literature is now mostly for my knowledge and entertainment more so than for a job or school assignment.

Even though I've been out of school for a while, high school and college, I've still hand my hand in reading different literature. Edgar Allen Poe was one of the first short stories I read. My son had an assignment in middle school and I had to help him with it. We had to submit a power point on "The Black Cat". I read that story one time and fell in love with his stories. We found a book with all the stories he wrote. Reading Poe for the second time in 5years seem as if I just read the story. Once again, his story had me on the edge of my seat as if I had never read the story.

Reading and writing has been something that I love to do. Prior to school I wasn't doing much of neither for personal reasons. Now that I'm back in school, I'm enjoying again something that I once loved to do. What happens now is, I'm told what to read and how to write and that's not a bad thing. At times it get complicated when you think you understand then realize you don't. No more freestyle for me, well not as much, especially if one day I want others to hear about some of the most interesting times in my life.

I'm Ready Now

Getting back in school was not so easy for me. I made every excuse in the world why I couldn't go back. I have to work, I need a babysitter, I can't afford it right now and I simply just don't have time.   Those were a lot of my excuses just for me not to go. When I first started school in 2000, my major was Information Technology, Computer Programming. Later my major changed to Physical Therapist. There were so many things I wanted to do then and still do now. A lot of them are not on the same level, as you can already see. I stop going to college in 2002 and went to hair school. I am now a licensed hairstylist. I got my licensed in 2004 and has been doing hair since then. I left Memphis 3years ago because of my job with Delta Air Lines. Since I've been here I've done hair from my home from time to time. My plan was to go to school here (Atlanta) and pretty much start my life over. Now I'm pretty much situated and ready to start my journey back to school. 2016 is the year I go back to school and I did. Having someone to encourage me to go and help me through this made it a little easier. Now it's time to pick a major. Undecided again  so go back to where I first started. Technology has changed so much and I could be really behind in this major. I now decide Business Management and would like to minor in finance. I would love to have my own business one day. I love to work with small children and teens/young adults. My plan is to have a group home or something on that level.
For some reason my home always seem to have more children there than the actual ones that live there. I never turn them away because I don't want them on the streets. I make sure the parents know where they are.The more I thought about the love I have these children and how I offer them help and guidance, I knew it was time for me to do more. I know it's possible for me to own a business without having a degree but that degree behind whatever it is you are trying to do look so much better. Choosing this major is beneficial so many ways. Another job I could possibly get into with this major is Human Resource.
I had my 1st child at a very young age. I refused to give up and drop out. I finished school on time with all A's and B's. My thought process was, I don't want my child teaching me how to read and write. That's why it's so important for me to help young girls and boys who may or may not have a child on the way but just the need of guidance.  The way everything is happening in this world, these kids need all the help they can get. That's my mission and plan. My background along with my degree can and will take me far in my plan to help someone else better themselves. As long as I'm able and in my right mind I will accomplish my dream. Having someone in your corner and show that they care and love you means a lot and that's what's missing and I plan to give back.

A Day on the Web!

It’s 3am already! Tossing, turning, and fighting to get out the bed. First, let me check the weather for rain. Weather.com says it’s all clear for rain. Ok, I’m dressed, let’s go. Since there is no traffic at the time I’m scheduled for work, I check googlemaps.com and Waze for any delays and alternate routes due to construction. These two sources are really good and have not failed me yet. I also get info on hazards in the road, police nearby and stalled vehicles on the side of the road. My favorite is, knowing where the police are hiding. There are so many useful resources with this app.

Finally, I made it to work.  My shift starts at 5am and end at 1:30pm. Each morning I check deltanet.com for emails and updates for work. A lot happens by the time I leave work. Delta try to keep us updated on what’s going on as it happens. As the shift begins, some coworkers and I use flighttracker.com to locate our arriving flight. This has been useful for at work (airport) working and any traveler on the go traveling.

On my first break, I start with d2l for any new updates then go to chegg.com to search for my class books. American government has kept me busy. I’m using history.com, YouTube, and edge.sage as sources for searching the Revolutionary War and many topics about politics.  I’m using YouTube again as a resource for my lyric paper in my composition class. I’m doing an analysis on Anita Baker. Her album was my mother’s favorite and I remember listening to this record many times as a little girl. My mother will be another resource I will use. I just want her input as a fan and not so much as facts about the artist.

Parents’ only want nothing but the best for their children and a good way to show it is to choose quality baby care products. Diapers are probably the most frequent thing parents go shopping for. There are a few companies advertising the same product to be better than the other leading brand. Three out of the top ten companies are Pampers, Huggies and Luvs. Each gives the impression that they are better at protecting your child’s skin from wetness and can last many hours.
Pampers Baby Dry is one of the most popular models due to the fact that they were designed to be used at night. Unlike most diapers, babies do not need to be changed right away because of the high absorption rate. Pampers comes with extra padding on the inside and outside, offering a higher standard of quality and extra comfort for all night use. This product has many packing options. Ex.  https://youtu.be/M5A2a56ALMc https://youtu.be/pBwuCPcUH-w http://www.pampers.com/en-us/about-pampers

Huggies is one of the most trusted brands when it comes to baby diapers. Their Snug and Dry diapers offers the perfect protection for a really low price. This product comes with a new locking system and multiple quick-absorbing layers and a waist band that ensure they will stay tight, comfortable and fit perfectly. They are durable for babies up to 14 pounds and a lock system that works when they are wet. Ex. https://youtu.be/M8IwREx0n48  https://www.huggies.com/en-us/diapers/little-snugglers

Luvs baby diapers offer the ultimate protection for every baby. They come with a wider design that prevents any leakage and have a higher absorption rate due to the high quality layers within the diaper. The product is one of the more affordable ones and can be recommended for overnight use. Its locking system was made to work even when it is wet while the diapers themselves offer a comfortable and snug fit.      For new parents, choosing the right diaper for your child would seem not so difficult. Even though the selection of this product is so limited, it still would put most mom and dads at ease knowing their baby had the right diaper protection.  One of the main things you would hear from parents is that they want something soft for baby and durable for all the dirty work. Each diaper gives a unique quality and offers a comfortable sensation for the baby.
