I'm Ready Now

Getting back in school was not so easy for me. I made every excuse in the world why I couldn't go back. I have to work, I need a babysitter, I can't afford it right now and I simply just don't have time.   Those were a lot of my excuses just for me not to go. When I first started school in 2000, my major was Information Technology, Computer Programming. Later my major changed to Physical Therapist. There were so many things I wanted to do then and still do now. A lot of them are not on the same level, as you can already see. I stop going to college in 2002 and went to hair school. I am now a licensed hairstylist. I got my licensed in 2004 and has been doing hair since then. I left Memphis 3years ago because of my job with Delta Air Lines. Since I've been here I've done hair from my home from time to time. My plan was to go to school here (Atlanta) and pretty much start my life over. Now I'm pretty much situated and ready to start my journey back to school. 2016 is the year I go back to school and I did. Having someone to encourage me to go and help me through this made it a little easier. Now it's time to pick a major. Undecided again  so go back to where I first started. Technology has changed so much and I could be really behind in this major. I now decide Business Management and would like to minor in finance. I would love to have my own business one day. I love to work with small children and teens/young adults. My plan is to have a group home or something on that level.
For some reason my home always seem to have more children there than the actual ones that live there. I never turn them away because I don't want them on the streets. I make sure the parents know where they are.The more I thought about the love I have these children and how I offer them help and guidance, I knew it was time for me to do more. I know it's possible for me to own a business without having a degree but that degree behind whatever it is you are trying to do look so much better. Choosing this major is beneficial so many ways. Another job I could possibly get into with this major is Human Resource.
I had my 1st child at a very young age. I refused to give up and drop out. I finished school on time with all A's and B's. My thought process was, I don't want my child teaching me how to read and write. That's why it's so important for me to help young girls and boys who may or may not have a child on the way but just the need of guidance.  The way everything is happening in this world, these kids need all the help they can get. That's my mission and plan. My background along with my degree can and will take me far in my plan to help someone else better themselves. As long as I'm able and in my right mind I will accomplish my dream. Having someone in your corner and show that they care and love you means a lot and that's what's missing and I plan to give back.

A Day on the Web!

It’s 3am already! Tossing, turning, and fighting to get out the bed. First, let me check the weather for rain. Weather.com says it’s all clear for rain. Ok, I’m dressed, let’s go. Since there is no traffic at the time I’m scheduled for work, I check googlemaps.com and Waze for any delays and alternate routes due to construction. These two sources are really good and have not failed me yet. I also get info on hazards in the road, police nearby and stalled vehicles on the side of the road. My favorite is, knowing where the police are hiding. There are so many useful resources with this app.

Finally, I made it to work.  My shift starts at 5am and end at 1:30pm. Each morning I check deltanet.com for emails and updates for work. A lot happens by the time I leave work. Delta try to keep us updated on what’s going on as it happens. As the shift begins, some coworkers and I use flighttracker.com to locate our arriving flight. This has been useful for at work (airport) working and any traveler on the go traveling.

On my first break, I start with d2l for any new updates then go to chegg.com to search for my class books. American government has kept me busy. I’m using history.com, YouTube, and edge.sage as sources for searching the Revolutionary War and many topics about politics.  I’m using YouTube again as a resource for my lyric paper in my composition class. I’m doing an analysis on Anita Baker. Her album was my mother’s favorite and I remember listening to this record many times as a little girl. My mother will be another resource I will use. I just want her input as a fan and not so much as facts about the artist.
